Mission
Statement
At the age of fifteen I decided I wanted to become
a professional magician. I studied endlessly by reading countless books,
going to workshops, seminars, and becoming a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians in Buffalo, NY. I also met, shared ideas, collaborated, and worked with great established entertainers (which I still do today to keep
current). I was one of the last “kids” to perform at the infamous magic bar/restaurant “The Forks Hotel” in Buffalo, NY. I am very proud to say
I had an opportunity to work at The Forks when I was just getting started before venturing outward. I never forgot the lessons
I learned there from so many great skilled entertainers, lessons I still utilize in my performances to this day.
SIDE NOTE: I will always be grateful for two
great men known as Eddie Fechter (photo below) from The Forks Hotel and George Graham from Four Jokers Magic Shop
for opening many doors for myself and others, not to mention the rich history of magic they helped create in Buffalo,
NY and beyond. I would also like to personally thank my good friend Brian Gillis - [ http://www.gillismagic.com ]
By the time I was 18 years
old I was traveling and performing full-time on a permanent basis as a stand-up comedian/magician. After four years of being
on the road, I decided I needed a rest and took some time off. Well, the “performing bug” was still in me, I kept
performing part-time. Over time, good customer service paid off as I was lucky enough to have clients keep calling me back.
Long story short, I went back to performing full-time.
After taking time to reflect, I decided God has
given me a gift and a skill to entertain people of all ages. I believe I was put on this earth to make people happy with this
gift, talent, and the skills I’ve obtained in the last 18 years. I truly feel at this point and time that this is my
purpose in life and the reason God put me on this earth.
REALITY CHECK: After doing thousands of shows, seeing many places, and many people, I can honestly and professionally say from years
of experience: a tiny number of shows and some things in life don’t always go right, (sometimes it’s just the
atmosphere that is created) but when I know I made someone forget their problems
for a brief moment, 20 minutes, an hour, or whatever by doing a trick, or saying something funny, it makes it all worthwhile,
and it is the most rewarding thing you can feel. A good example is this: After performing a show in Michigan, an elderly woman
came up to me and told me she thought I was really funny and she liked the fact that she could understand the magic I was
doing by what I said. I wasn’t sure what she meant. Then she floored me and told me she was blind. I wonder to this
day how someone like me could have an effect like that on anyone. Was it me or was it my presentation? Either way, she thought
it was good and that’s what’s important. That is rewarding. An even nicer part is when the person that booked
the event is the one that gets all the credit. I feel this way because I know I did something good for them and their guests.
Because of that, when creating
my performances, I decided I wanted to provide to my clients the type of entertainment that I would desire if I were booking
the event.
Therefore, my goal is to provide every client
with entertainment of the best, most comfortable, relaxed, and fun atmosphere that I can offer/create at every event.
In the process of learning, performing, working,
and networking as a magician/stand-up comedian, I started to venture into many other avenues of entertainment services. Services/skills
that I am offering here to you today. I am very happy I have obtained these skills and look forward to sharing them with you
and the rest of the world.
My name is Dan Dobson. I am
a full-time entertainer, this is my living, this is how I support my family, eat, live, and breathe. It is my mission to give
you my best.
